Cody was raised in a rural farming and logging community in southwest Missouri. After earning his undergraduate degree, he decided to pursue a legal career after witnessing just how difficult it is for the average person to navigate our complex legal system, particularly when facing large, well-resourced insurance companies and corporate defendants.
Before law school, Cody worked at a Level I Trauma and Burn Center, where he was exposed to a wide range of serious medical conditions and saw firsthand the immediate and long-term effects traumatic injuries have on patients and their families. That experience provides him with a practical understanding of injury-related medical issues and informs his work today in brain injury and catastrophic injury litigation.
Cody attended Baylor Law School on a full academic scholarship and graduated in 2020. While there, he served on the editorial board of the Baylor Law Review and completed multiple externships, including a judicial clerkship with a United States Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. Through that role, he gained valuable insight into how federal judges evaluate legal arguments, analyze evidentiary records, and decide contested matters. He also contributed to the Texas Practice Guide: Alternative Dispute Resolution (2019–2020 edition), developing early experience in strategic advocacy and dispute resolution.
After relocating to the Pacific Northwest, Cody began representing individuals in complex civil litigation, including serious personal injury claims and insurance coverage disputes. His practice focuses on traumatic brain injury, catastrophic injury, and insurance bad-faith litigation in Washington. Cody understands humans are neither widgets nor automatons, and he works closely with clients and their families to understand both how the injury happened and the full human consequences that follow.
Cody prepares every case as though it will be tried before a jury. From initial investigation through resolution, matters are developed with trial readiness in mind, strengthening negotiating leverage while positioning clients for success at verdict if necessary. He is comfortable in the courtroom and believes meaningful results often require disciplined preparation and a willingness to try cases.
Cody’s commitment to brain injury advocacy is also personal. Earlier in his life, he witnessed how a traumatic brain injury can affect an entire family. That experience reinforces his emphasis on careful preparation, clear communication, and respect for what clients endure throughout the litigation process.
He is active in the Washington plaintiff-side legal community and trial advocacy. Cody is a former member of the Washington Young Lawyers Committee and currently serves on the Washington State Association for Justice Trial News Editorial Board. He is also a graduate of the Gerry Spence Method three-week program at Thunderhead Ranch, where he trained in advanced trial advocacy, storytelling, and client-centered representation.
Outside the office, Cody enjoys camping, hiking, cycling, and kayaking throughout the Pacific Northwest.
