Kathy’s Story of Headaches, Cognitive Changes, and Recovery after Motorcycle Accident

Motorcycle Accident Leads to Traumatic Brain Injury

Kathy’s Story: They Made Me Feel Like A Person, Not A Paycheck

When Kathy and her husband were in a motorcycle accident in 2019, at first, she tried to move on with her life:

“It was an accident. We didn’t know we could sue people, but our doctors and chiropractors suggested we get a lawyer. I ended up choosing Brain Injury Law.”

“I had no idea what to expect, what to do, or how to do it. They just made me feel very comfortable. Like they cared.”

We started working for her right away, preparing her for how long these cases can take.

“The System Does Not Move Fast, But Truthfully, I Was Never Worried About It. They Always Kept Me Informed. They Made  Me Feel Like I Mattered”

In our line of work, we regularly see how the system can be overwhelming and dehumanizing, which is hard enough in the best of times, let alone when you have a traumatic brain injury.

Our focus is always on our clients, helping them to get through what is often a confusing, disorienting, and even painful process while we simultaneously work on the case itself.

“Everything they did, they always kept me informed, and when I had to go and see the doctors for the other side, they came with me.”

“They were in the room with me with the two doctors. For me, it was a very nerve-wracking experience. I was terrified. I didn’t know what those doctors were going to do or say. But every time I looked over and saw them sitting there, there was a calmness.”

“They explained everything, why it was being done, and what was being done. They had my best interest at heart, and they looked after me, and it took all the angst and the anxiety out of it.”

“I left everything up to them. They said they’d do the best that they can for me. And that’s all anybody could expect.”

“They Went Way Above And Beyond. They Made Me Feel Like I Mattered, Like I Wasn’t A Paycheck.”

“They really cared. They made sure I was okay at the doctor’s visits because, sometimes, my husband wasn’t allowed to come in.”

“They contacted me after the MRI and other tests, asking if I was okay. I’d never had one before. I didn’t know if I was claustrophobic. But they were there for me. I never once felt like they were there for money. They were there for me.

“They were so understanding of my brain injury. At the time, I just thought I was scattered. But no matter what I said to them, they didn’t judge me for it or make me feel stupid.”

“I would recommend them to anybody and everybody. Because they do care. They told me straight out that, if they didn’t think this was a good case, that they couldn’t win, they wouldn’t do it.”

“That made me really realize they’re not there for the money: They’re there for the person.”

“This Has Just Made Both Our Lives Easier. We Can Live Comfortably. We Don’t Have To Worry About Anything.”

What many of our clients don’t realize is that the costs of injuries can be long-lasting, far beyond what you experience initially. Many of our clients need lifelong care, which may not be covered by insurance.

This is often why payouts seem large, when in fact, they are simply accounting for the long-term costs of care, coupled with another common issue: Many of our clients aren’t able to work anymore as a result of their accident.

“I go to Pilates twice a week to help with my injury, and I need regular massages. I don’t have good medical insurance because I’m retired. So I can afford to pay for this and not worry about sacrificing something else to pay for my care.”

“When I got checked out by my doctor, they told me I would have to get shots in the back of my head for the rest of my life. The back of my skull would just seize up, the shots would release that, but only temporarily.”

“Without the shots, I get screaming headaches because it gets so tight. That’s never going to go away, ever. When you have to pay for those shots yourself, you really spread them out for a long time.”

“I also go to the chiropractor a couple of times a week. I couldn’t afford any of this otherwise.”

“It has made our life easier and secure. I don’t have to worry about anything.”
