Tacoma, WA (November 8, 2025) – A hit-and-run crash left one person seriously injured on Saturday morning, November 8, near 100th Street South in Tacoma. The collision happened around 7:18 a.m. when a gray Ford Escape slammed into a yellow 2006 GMC Sierra and then fled the scene heading south.

The violent impact crushed the Sierra and trapped the driver inside. First responders arrived within minutes and worked quickly to free the victim from the wreckage. Medics treated the injured person on scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital for further care. Reports indicate the victim sustained a severe arm injury and was in significant pain as crews worked to stabilize them.

Witnesses said the Ford Escape continued driving south without stopping to help. Officers with the Tacoma Police Department are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to identify the driver.

Investigators have not yet determined whether speeding, distraction, or impairment caused the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue searching for the suspect vehicle.

    Car Accidents in Washington

Car accidents are one of the leading causes of serious injuries across Washington, particularly in urban areas like Tacoma. Heavy traffic, reckless driving, and poor visibility all increase the risk of devastating crashes like this one.

The main causes of car accidents in Washington include speeding, distracted driving, and failing to yield. Many crashes happen when drivers make unsafe lane changes or follow too closely. Rain, fog, and dark roads make these risks even more dangerous and often lead to serious injuries.

Collisions often result in life-changing injuries, including:

    • Broken bones
    • Internal bleeding or organ damage
    • Neck, back, and spinal cord injuries
    • Traumatic brain injuries (TBI)

The brain is a soft and delicate organ, and even a moderate impact can cause it to move within the skull. This can lead to bruising, swelling, or chemical imbalances that affect balance, focus, and memory. These symptoms may appear hours or even days after a crash, which is why prompt medical attention is essential.

After any serious collision, it’s vital to seek a full medical evaluation, even if you feel fine at first. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent complications and help support long-term recovery.

It’s also important to work with a personal injury attorney who understands car accidents in Tacoma. These cases often involve complex insurance negotiations, lost wages, and significant medical expenses. A skilled legal team can help victims pursue compensation for hospital bills, lost wages, and other damages.
