Lacey, WA (July 14, 2025) – Early Monday morning, a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 southbound near Exit 111 led to a rollover and left law enforcement searching for a driver who ran from the scene.

At around 1:30 a.m. on July 14, Washington State Patrol troopers responded after reports came in about a white Subaru that had overturned and landed in a ditch near the median. Witnesses told troopers that the male driver of the second vehicle, believed to have caused the crash, abandoned his car in the median and fled on foot before officers arrived.

A female occupant remained at the scene with the Subaru while troopers secured the area and provided aid. The second vehicle, described as the victim’s car, came to rest on the right shoulder of the interstate. EMS assessed the woman for injuries before transporting her to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

Troopers temporarily shut down the center lane while they collected evidence and cleared the vehicles. The Washington State Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and the identity of the fleeing driver. Witnesses are encouraged to contact authorities with any information that could help locate him.

    Car Accidents in Washington

Lacey, WA - Two-Vehicle Crash with Injuries on I-5 Near Exit 111Motor vehicle collisions are a common occurrence on Washington’s busy roads. In recent years, the Washington Traffic Safety Commission has reported that thousands of crashes each year result in injuries, many caused by reckless or impaired driving. Incidents where a driver flees only add more stress for victims, making recovery and compensation more challenging.

Learning what factors contribute to crashes can help prevent future incidents. Below are a few important considerations:

    • Hit-and-Run Collisions: When a driver leaves the scene, it can delay medical care and make insurance claims more difficult. Quick action and thorough investigation help victims get the support they need.
    • Reckless Driving: Unsafe lane changes, tailgating, and speeding put everyone at risk. Staying calm and patient behind the wheel goes a long way toward preventing tragedies.
    • Driving Under the Influence: Alcohol and drug impairment are major factors in serious wrecks. Impairment slows reaction time and clouds judgment. At Brain Injury Law of Seattle, our attorneys have experience as former prosecutors and understand the impact alcohol or drug-related traffic injuries can have.
    • Nighttime Driving: Low visibility and driver fatigue at night can increase the chance of mistakes. Slowing down and staying alert are simple ways to help prevent crashes in the dark.
    • Failure to Stay in Lane: Swerving or drifting into other lanes is dangerous, especially at high speeds. Drivers should minimize distractions to keep their vehicles steady.
