Snoqualmie Pass, WA (November 6, 2025) – An 18-year-old man died on Wednesday, November 5, around 10:30 p.m., after a violent crash involving a semi-truck on westbound Interstate 90 near Snoqualmie Pass in King County.

The Washington State Patrol reported that the young driver was heading west in a 1994 Ford Ranger when, for reasons still under police investigation, he struck a concrete barrier, spun out, and stopped partially in the far-right lane. Seconds later, a fully loaded semi-truck slammed into the disabled vehicle, crushing the smaller truck on impact.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the pickup severely damaged. Nugent remained inside the vehicle with critical injuries. Firefighters worked quickly to reach him. Despite their efforts, he died from his injuries at the scene.

The semi-truck driver remained at the scene and was not injured. Officials confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol contributed to the crash.

Troopers from the Washington State Patrol spent several hours documenting the scene and collecting evidence to determine how the events unfolded. The investigation into the deadly collision remains ongoing.

    Fatal Car Accidents in Washington

Fatal car accidents in Washington continue to cause heartbreak for families across the state. Mountain passes like Snoqualmie are especially dangerous due to sharp curves, steep grades, and unpredictable weather that can quickly turn roads slick or icy. When drivers lose control in these conditions, the results are often catastrophic.

According to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, hundreds of lives are lost each year in traffic collisions statewide. Many of these crashes involve high-speed impacts or large commercial vehicles that leave little chance of survival for smaller car occupants.

Common causes of fatal crashes include:

    • Speeding and sudden loss of control
    • Driver fatigue during long or late-night trips
    • Poor visibility and adverse weather
    • Mechanical failures or tire blowouts

When vehicles collide with semi-trucks, the impact is catastrophic. Passenger vehicles are no match for the weight and size of a fully loaded commercial truck. Victims often suffer severe trauma, spinal cord injuries, or fatalities at the scene.

Losing a loved one in a crash can leave families facing emotional pain and unexpected financial challenges. Under Washington law, surviving relatives may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim to recover compensation for funeral costs, lost income, and the emotional impact of their loss.

It’s important to work with a personal injury attorney who understands car accidents and how to handle wrongful death claims. A skilled legal team can gather crucial evidence, consult experts, and hold negligent parties accountable.
