Seattle, WA (September 30, 2025) A pedestrian suffered severe injuries on Monday night, September 29, after being struck by a vehicle on the southbound side of Aurora Avenue North near North 59th Street in Seattle.

The crash happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. as the pedestrian attempted to cross the busy roadway. A vehicle traveling south struck the individual with significant force, throwing them to the pavement. Witnesses said the impact appeared serious and left the victim unable to move as traffic stopped around the scene.

Emergency crews arrived quickly and provided urgent care on-site. Seattle Fire Department medics stabilized the victim before transporting them to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Officials have not shared additional updates about the person’s current condition or whether the driver involved stayed at the scene.

Seattle police spent hours documenting evidence, speaking with witnesses, and reviewing the area for possible surveillance footage. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected as officials continue their review.

    Pedestrian Accidents in Washington

Pedestrian crashes are a growing concern across Washington, especially in dense urban areas like Seattle where vehicle traffic and foot traffic often mix. Busy corridors such as Aurora Avenue North can be especially dangerous because of high speeds, multiple lanes, and limited crossing points.

Several factors contribute to these types of collisions:

    • Distracted Driving: Drivers looking at phones or adjusting controls may miss someone crossing the road.
    • Low Visibility: Poor lighting makes it harder for motorists to spot pedestrians at night.
    • Speeding: Higher speeds reduce reaction time and increase the severity of injuries in a crash.
    • Complex Intersections: Multiple lanes and turning vehicles can confuse both drivers and pedestrians.

The injuries from these crashes are often devastating. Broken bones, internal bleeding, and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) are common.

TBIs are especially concerning. The brain is a soft and delicate organ, so even a low-speed impact can cause lasting problems. Victims may experience headaches, memory issues, fatigue, or other symptoms that require ongoing medical attention. Early evaluation and treatment are critical to reduce long-term complications.

It’s important to work with a personal injury attorney who understands pedestrian accidents in Seattle. Legal guidance helps victims pursue compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and long-term care.
