Tacoma, WA (December 13, 2025) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured on Saturday morning, October 13,  after being struck in a hit-and-run crash along 8th Street East in Tacoma. The collision occurred around 11:00 a.m., according to local authorities.

Investigators said a silver 2010 Toyota Tacoma collided with the motorcycle and then fled the scene, leaving the injured rider on the roadway. Emergency responders arrived within minutes. Paramedics provided urgent care before rushing the victim to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Police later located the suspect vehicle parked near 8th Street East. The truck had severe front-end damage and was missing its front license plate. Officers collected evidence from the vehicle and began searching for the driver involved.

Detectives are reviewing nearby surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses to determine what led to the collision and identify the person responsible. The Tacoma Police Department is leading the investigation and will share more information as it becomes available.

Hit and Run Motorcycle Accidents in Washington

Motorcycle crashes occur frequently across Washington, especially in busy cities like Tacoma. Riders face daily exposure to traffic congestion, sudden stops, and vehicles entering or crossing travel lanes. Emergency responders across the state handle serious motorcycle injury cases on a regular basis.

Hit-and-run motorcycle crashes often occur when drivers fail to see a rider or misjudge speed and distance. Some drivers panic immediately after the impact and leave the scene instead of stopping to help. In other cases, drivers flee to avoid responsibility or legal consequences.

Motorcyclists often suffer severe injuries because their bodies absorb the full force of a collision. Common injuries in these crashes include:

    • Head and brain injuries that interfere with memory, balance, and focus
    • Spinal injuries that limit movement or cause long-term pain
    • Broken bones in the arms, legs, ribs, or pelvis
    • Internal injuries that require emergency treatment

When a driver leaves the scene, injuries often worsen due to delayed care. Riders may appear conscious at first, then experience serious symptoms hours or days later. Missing drivers also complicate insurance claims and slow the recovery process.

It’s important to work with a personal injury attorney who understands motorcycle accidents in Tacoma. A skilled legal team can gather evidence, locate hit-and-run suspects, and handle insurance claims that often become complex in these cases.

Brain injuries require special attention after a motorcycle crash. The brain is a soft, delicate organ, and even a single impact can cause long-term changes to memory, mood, or daily function. Symptoms do not always appear right away, which makes early medical care and careful monitoring essential.
