Kent, WA (December 15, 2025) – A deadly hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a pedestrian on Saturday, December 13, in the Kent area.

The collision occurred just before midnight on State Route 516 East. According to the Washington State Patrol, a vehicle traveling eastbound struck a 55-year-old man. The impact caused fatal injuries, and the victim died at the scene.

After the crash, the driver did not stop to provide assistance or report the collision. Instead, the vehicle continued traveling eastbound, leaving the scene before law enforcement arrived. Officers responded quickly and secured the area to begin an investigation.

Authorities temporarily closed the roadway for approximately three and a half hours while crews documented evidence and worked to understand how the crash occurred. During the early morning hours of Sunday, investigators confirmed that they did not yet have a description of the suspect vehicle.

The Washington State Patrol continues to review available evidence and is asking anyone with information to come forward as the investigation into the fatal hit-and-run remains ongoing.

    Hit-and-Run Accidents in Washington

Pedestrian fatalities remain a serious concern across Washington, especially on state routes and high-speed corridors. When a crash involves a hit-and-run driver, families often face added challenges due to unanswered questions and delayed accountability.

In Washington, leaving the scene of a crash that results in death is a serious criminal offense. Even when the responsible driver is not immediately identified, families may still have legal options. These cases often involve a detailed review of traffic evidence, vehicle debris, surveillance footage, and insurance coverage.

In fatal pedestrian cases, surviving family members may be eligible to pursue compensation through a wrongful death claim. These claims may help address both economic and personal losses, including:

    • Funeral and burial expenses, which can create sudden financial strain during an already difficult time.
    • Loss of financial support, including wages and benefits the victim would have contributed to the household.
    • Loss of companionship and guidance, reflecting the lasting impact on close family relationships.
    • Medical expenses incurred before death, if emergency treatment occurred prior to the victim passing away.

It’s important to work with a wrongful death attorney who understands wrongful death claims, particularly those involving pedestrian hit-and-run crashes. These cases often require careful coordination with investigators and insurance providers to identify all possible avenues for recovery.
